Stay away from Breast Cancer with Walking

To reduce breast cancer risk, we do not need to exercise too severely. Even with walking, we can maintain breast health significantly. It’s never too late to feel the benefits.

In a study published in the Journal of the American Medical Association, scientists found that women who regularly exercise brisk walking at the end of the age of 30 and 40 years have a risk of developing breast cancer is lower than their counterparts who are lazy to move.

The study involved 74 000 postmenopausal women aged 50-79 years. They are the respondents in the Women’s Health Initiative study in 2002. The study concluded, among other benefits of hormone replacement therapy to reduce breast cancer risk.

Results of research about the benefits of walking are to strengthen the various studies that mention regular exercise effectively reduces the risk of breast cancer. Besides, it’s never too late to start.

Respondents who exercised only 1.5 to 2 hours of brisk walking each week and started when they were aged 35 and 50 years has also benefited decrease cancer risk by 18 percent. But, of course the benefits will be more meaningful if the exercise is begun as early as possible.

In addition to walking, other sports that are fun such as swimming and cycling, if done regularly, it will reduce a greater cancer risk. Not to mention the healthy heart bonus that you get at the same time while you are keeping your weight ideal.
